Happy New Year!

The first place to begin is with your concerns. Every unaddressed concern represents a unappreciated aspiration. For instance, if a reoccurring concern relates to financial insecurity there is a deeper aspiration of financial abundance needing to be revealing and symbolized within your home and office. By identifying your main concerns you can determine your key aspirations. The ba-gua can be helpful in providing a framework of eight basic categories to consider, from love to knowledge.

Once you have identified your concerns/aspirations ask yourself which rooms in your home best relate to these issues. For instance if you have fears or frustration regarding your health, it would be important to look in your kitchen. For love and relationships, look to your bedroom and dining room. After you have identified your corresponding rooms you want to look for symbols of your fears/concerns, i.e. clutter. Remember, the definition of clutter is anything that is an obstacle to the fulfillment of your aspirations/intentions. Positive change begins with letting go.

Feng shui is part philosophy and part design. After letting go, our aspirations and intentions naturally clarify. The next step is to symbolize these feelings through color, artwork, furniture placement, etc. For many of us this process is initially easier to do with a consultant; however the underlying purpose is to create a space that affirms of our true intentions. Once you realize that this is not simply a one time procedure, but the beginning of your feng shui practice, you will starting achieving your intentions more easily.

In upcoming issues I will share suggestions and ideas relating to areas of the ba-gua beginning with Love and areas of the home such as the bedroom. If you have any stories you would like to share, please click here.
