Feng Shui & Real Estate, a perfect match

Within the Asian world the concepts of real estate and feng shui are inseparable and have been for thousands of years. However, the Western world is just beginning to understand the powerful connection between real estate, in terms of purchasing, selling, and developing, and the philosophy of feng shui. Personally, I spent most of the past eight years working with clients to transform their residences versus helping them find or prepare their home for sale. Recently however that has begun to change with more and more people asking me to help them find or sell their homes. This reflects a growing national interest in homeowners to use feng shui in the real estate process. In Boulder, a broker commented that at least 30% of her clientele are requesting feng shui services when looking to purchase a home. Recently there was a great, two page article in the New York Times regarding realtors using feng shui with their clients. One of my clients is featured from Downington, PA. It was a very exciting article that speaks to future of real estate with feng shui.

The underlying concept of feng shui is that our living environments provide the powerful potential to manifest our intention in a manner which can lead to greater balance in our lives. In many ways, feng shui is the art and real estate is the necessary medium to express it whether it is your home, your office, etc. Maybe that is why I have developed such an attraction to homes, and buildings. I feel drawn to their psychological potential to affect tremendous positive change in people’s lives. Understanding feng shui involves understanding the dialogue between a space and a person’s psyche. Often people buy their “dream home” a based on a strong emotional response to a space, a feeling of happiness, a sense of security. The key to feng shui and real estate is developing a sensitivity for finding which homes are more likely to evoke that feeling and helping sellers prepare their home to best express those feelings of happiness, grace, security. As interest continues to grow, I see feng shui elevating the practice of real estate as people become more understanding of the psychological nature to buying and selling property. Thankfully, many realtors are very interested in feng shui, wanting to learn how to better serve their clients. I saw this first hand in my feng shui classes for realtors that I provided for Polley & Associates, a large real estate school in Pennsylvania.

One of the real estate companies, Coldwell Banker Preferred, clearly distinguished themselves with their appreciation of feng shui by having me provide feng shui real estate courses to all of their agents and later hiring me to provide feng shui consultations for all of their offices throughout Greater Philadelphia. Personally, I found their support and interest so inspiring that I decided to further my understanding of real estate and my ability to help people by getting my license and partnering with Coldwell Banker Preferred to share the benefits of feng shui with others. I look forward to sharing my insights regarding real estate and feng shui in this newsletter. In general I look forward to helping realtors increase their knowledge and understanding of feng shui through my Continuing Education classes and lectures. There is a lot of interesting information to cover including: using feng shui to find the best home for you, how to sell your home with feng shui, and feng shui for investors and developers. In the next newsletter I will focus on how to best prepare and market home for sale with feng shui. If you would like to share an experience, please let me know.
